Ans by:- Jagan Raajan, Intern at National Instruments R&D office
Recently,National Instruments had come to our college for recruitment and I was one of the 3 students who got selected.Mostly they recruit for the LabVIEW,Computer Vision and RF teams.
First round was written aptitude. The questions were based on programming(pointers, recursion, etc.) and mathematics(probability and permutation & combination). There was 12 questions and the time limit was 90 minutes. It was challenging and it’ll be fun to solve it.
Around 20 were shortlisted for next round. It was a coding round of 3 hours. There were 2 questions and we had to code using C or C++. The questions were challenging and really tested our algorithmic skills. My 3–4 months practice in HackerRank helped a lot.
Eight of us were shortlisted for the next round. The technical and HR round happened at the same time. They asked some puzzles to begin with and then questions on graphs. Since I was from ECE and I had done few projects in Image processing and Computer Vision, they asked on that. Other than that, the interview was more of a casual conversation.
Finally after an hour, they announced the results and I was one among the 3 to be selected, the other two were from CSE branch.
So brush up your data structures knowledge and start solving on HackerRank website. That’ll be enough to manage the technical rounds.
